Brew 78 – Hop Water

  • 1 oz Warrior (14.5 AAU)

This was my second hop water attempt (first here: Brew 75 – Hop Water). I cut the hops in half, only left them in the water 10 minutes instead of 30, and started them at 165F rather than 140F.

  1. Fill pot to 1/2″ below rivets.
  2. Place on stove high.
  3. At 165F, place muslin bag with hops in water.
  4. After 10 minutes, remove hop bag.
  5. Bring to boil for 10 minutes.
  6. Cool in ice bath and with stirring.
  7. Pour into keg.

The hop water had a copper tint. I had more than could fit in the keg. Next time start with less water at the beginning.
